About

Research is a discipline, not a prompt.

PassResearch is an academic workspace for students who have to defend their work. It keeps the source record next to the sentence, so every claim has somewhere to point.

01

Why we built it

A tool that respects the work

Good research is slow, careful and referenced. Software should make that easier, not paper over it with generated confidence.

The problem
Most research tools give you a blank box and a button. They generate confident paragraphs with no sources, and the work collapses the moment a supervisor asks where a claim came from.
The idea
Build the opposite: a workspace that starts with real scholarly records, keeps every citation traceable, and writes nothing that it cannot point back to.
The build
PassResearch is an independent project operated from Kampala, Uganda. It is being built in the open, one honest capability at a time.

Method first: plan, source, then write.
03

What we hold to

Four rules we do not bend

These are design constraints as much as principles — they decide what the product will and will not do.

Evidence before prose

The workspace is built around stored source records, not generated text. A citation resolves to something you saved and can open again.

Never overclaim

A discovered record is never labelled verified, and a connector that is unavailable says so instead of quietly returning nothing.

The document is yours

PassResearch helps you plan, source, draft and check your own work. It does not sit an exam for you, and the integrity rules say so plainly.

Built for real browsers

Phone, tablet or desktop — the same workspace, laid out for the screen you actually have, with photographs and type that hold up.
